Moreno Joins Guevara Pic
Long before Che Guevara became an unlikely rallying cry for pretentious college students, he was a cold blooded murderer. In fact, he personally shot countless people at La Cabana without so much as a trial or even free forum to defend themselves. This type of unwarranted aggression is highly appealing to a large chunk of ignorant non-history majors, and t-shirt makers have been more than willing to accommodate, producing millions of shirts bearing his likeness. Apparently wearing a Che emblazoned top isn’t enough for Catalina Sandino Moreno though, as she’s ready to get a little more invested.
According to Variety, the Colombian actress has signed on to join Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming two part movie on the life of Castro’s buddy. The motion picture begins shooting next week with Benicio del Toro toplining. The budget is reported to be over seventy million dollars, but there’s no word yet on how much of that was paid to revise history and pretend he was just a laudable revolutionary.
I won’t be seeing this as I’m not big on paying eight dollars to be lied to; however, for those of you wishing to put your brain aside for a few hours, the film should open sometime next year.
