The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones Trailer And New Poster Arrive

Among the upcoming young adult novels getting the movie treatment next year is The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a film based on the first book in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. Lily Collins plays the lead in this film, which now has a new trailer as well as a poster that reflects a side of New York City Collins' Clary Fray is only just beginning to discover.

City of Bones follows Clary Fray, a teenager living in Brooklyn, who learns she's the descendent of a long line of demon hunters called Shadowhunters. In addition to Collins, the cast includes Lena Headey, who plays Clary's mother, Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays fellow Shadowhunter Jace Wayland, Jared Harris, as Hodge Starkweather, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays Valentine Morgenstern.

MTV released the new trailer, which you can view below.

The trailer gives us a look at Clary's first encounter with Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) at Pandemonium and then her fast and exciting introduction to a world she didn't realize she was a part of. With glimpses of demons, weapons, fire and light, and lots of fighting, all of which builds up to what appears to be the start of a dangerous battle which has Clary and the other Shadowhunters outnumbered but poised for a fight. Exciting stuff!

Here's the new poster, also courtesy of MTV, which shows New York City as we see it above and the side us "mundies" can't see reflected below.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones arrives in theaters August 23, 2013. More information can be found in our Blend Film Database.
