Mortensen And Hoffman Getting Cast Away

This honestly sounds like some bizarre nightmare I might have after ODing on episodes of Lost and Oscar coverage at the same time. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Viggo Mortensen, two of the best actors around, are rumored to be joining the cast of Vanikoro, a depiction of the events on the South Pacific Vanikoro Island in the early 1800s when two ships wrecked there. Hoffman and Mortensen would play the only two survivors after all others perished or found a way off the island.

Bloody Disgusting has the scoop, and seems utterly unfazed by the fact t hat this is directed by Xavier Gens, who gave the world the November crapfest Hitman. So let me be the one to ask: Have PSH and Viggo lost their friggin’ minds? These are two actors who can do whatever they damn well please, and usually do. I mean, not every American gets to play a Russian mobster and do a fight scene naked. So either this crazy castaway story is really secretly good, or Xavier Gens has crazy blackmail on these guys, or they’ve got baby mamas asking for alimony or something. Otherwise I can’t make heads or tails of this. Anyone care to enlighten me on what I might be missing?
