Mostly Martha Becomes Americanized
Nine Queens was a great Argentinean heist flick that won over critics and audiences alike. Then several years later, Hollywood recreated essentially the same exact movie, but this time called it Criminal and distributed it in English. There are also rumors that the recent hit Oldboy is going to get the American treatment. Are people really that opposed to reading subtitles?
All signs point to yes. According to Variety, the 2001 German comedy Mostly Martha is also being remade into an American film. Scott Hicks set to direct the remake.
Even though it lacks originality, it has a pretty solid cast lined up. Patricia Clarkson, Aaron Eckhart, and Catherine Zeta-Jones have decided to join the kitchen ensemble. The film is about a headstrong cook who takes charge of her difficult 8-year-old niece, and then a pleasant Italian chef arrives to brighten things up.
