Great news, the funniest movie of the year is coming to theaters. Mystery Team is the latest from the Derrick Comedy. It debuted earlier this year at Sundance and hadn’t, like a lot of the great festival films which have been floating around this year, found distribution. Now they’ve got it, courtesy of Roadside Attractions who will put it in theaters this fall. What the hell is it? Here’s how they described it: “If Encyclopedia Brown, the kids from American Pie, and Nancy Drew all had sex, their baby would probably look something like Mystery Team.” It’s say that’s dead on. Mystery Team needs to be seen. It’s unlike any other comedy you’ve ever seen and it’s destined for cult stardom. It’s not just the funniest year, it’s also the best mystery movie I’ve seen since Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. There’s no specific release date yet, just the general notion that Roadside will put it out sometime this fall. We’ll let you know when they pick a weekend. Until then, watch the trailer:
