Narnia's Reepicheep Puts In An Appearance
Pictures from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian have been flooding the Internet for the past week, but one thing has been visibly missing: Reepicheep. The character is a major addition to the saga with the second story, but images of the character haven’t been forthcoming.
There’s a somewhat good reason for the absence of Reepicheep in the advertising. He’s a mouse. Most of the images have been focused on the return of the Pevensie children to Narnia, the new title character Caspian, or the villain of the second story, King Miraz. With the focus on humans, it’s hard to fit a mouse into the picture.
Fortunately, Reepicheep isn’t being completely overlooked. A recent ad in the Los Angeles Times featured a new piece of artwork for the movie, with the slogan “Everything you know is about to change forever.” Standing on the Chronciles of Narnia logo is a little mouse, wielding a sword and wearing a plume, which Narniaweb spotted as Reepicheep.
The character was already a pretty popular part of the Narnia saga, introduced in Prince Caspian and continuing on into the next story, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. However there’s even more reason to be excited about the character’s inclusion in the movie – he’s to be voiced by Eddie Izzard. Frankly, I think they should be playing up that part of the movie more than pretty boy Caspian (Ben Barnes).
