Neil Patrick Harris Is Your 2015 Oscar Host, Watch His Awesome Response
Simply being a charismatic entertainer is what makes a good award show host, and Neil Patrick Harris has proven time and time again that he has those skills. The Emmys have called on him twice to lead their program, and the Tonys have asked for his presence four times. And now he's getting his shot at the big time: Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 2015 Academy Awards.
To celebrate the brand new gig, Harris took to his MobyPicture account and posted the following video.
In case you don't want to hit pause to read NPH's entire bucket list, here it is in its entirety. It's quite a list of accomplishments!
While Neil Patrick Harris has had this entire year off from hosting gigs, he's hardly out of practice. In 2013 he was selected to host both the Emmys and the Tonys, having done so numerous times before. As the choice to host the 87th Oscars, he is following up the performance from Ellen DeGeneres earlier this year, which earned fair reviews.
Adding an interesting wrinkle to Neil Patrick Harris' selection is the fact that he is a name some having been talking about in award's buzz. David Fincher's Gone Girl kicked off the season earlier this month, and Harris has gotten quite a bit of praise for his performance in the movie. It wouldn't be the first time that this has happened, but that doesn't diminish the accomplishment.
We have a long Oscar season ahead of us, and we will spend the next few months determining exactly which movies will be up for Hollywood's biggest prize. The show itself, however, is still a long, long time from now, as it won't be hitting the airwaves until February 22, 2015. For a taste of what Neil Patrick can do as a host, head over to Page Two!
