Nick Frost Is The Seventh Dwarf In Snow White And The Huntsman

We've complained before that the practice of casting awesome actors as dwarves has us far more interested than we ever expected in Snow White and the Huntsman, the fairy tale adaptation that has Kristen Stewart starring as the main princess, with Chris Hemsworth as the woodcutter who teaches her survival skills in the woods. Already British acting heroes like Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Marsan and Toby Jones are signed on to sing "hi ho" as off to work they go, and now they've finally found the seventh: Nick Frost.

Variety wrote that the actor was in negotiations to play the final dwarf, and Frost has confirmed it on his Twitter feed. You can tell he might have a little bit of Brit Hobbit envy though, referencing "Nasty hobbits" in his tweet before admitting "#wrongfilm." It is a little surreal that we now live in a world that includes two in-production movies that include two separate sets of dwarfs in the news-- The Hobbit keeps grabbing attention by releasing glamour shots of its dwarf crew. And that's without even getting into the competing Relativity Media movie, officially called Untitled Snow White Project, which cast its lot of dwarves back in May and mostly relied on actors you've never heard of.

If there's still a feud between the dueling Snow White projects, and why shouldn't there be if it's more fun to assume there is one, I'd say Huntsman is easily taking the lead with its dwarves alone. You've got every possible kind of appeal there, from beloved character actors like Hoskins, Marsan and Winstone to a comedy icon like Izzard to fucking Ian McShane, who can kill you with a glance. Frost, the familiar star of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and this summer's Attack the Block, will add that little bit of geek flair that really makes the group complete.
