The amazing success of Evan Almighty is still reverberating through Hollywood. The picture was a massive commercial and critical hit that will spawn many sequels and copycats. Or maybe it was such a huge disappointment that it will put people off of God and Arks for many years to come.
All is not lost for the big guy, however. Variety reports that Unified Pictures is ready to tackle Noah’s Ark again by developing a picture called, creatively, Noah’s Ark. This will be a CG animated feature told from the point of view of the animals. Hopefully they will focus on the monkeys. People love funny monkeys.
Although Unified is an independent studio it hopes that technology advances in CG animation will give the movie the same look and feel as a studio animated film. Maybe it will be as great as Happily N’ever After! Phillip LaZebnik, who wrote the worst Disney animated movie in 40 years, Pocahontas, will take a crack at the script. Look for this in 2010.
