O'Toole Painting A Moving Picture
At 75 years-old, the man who braved the baron Arabian desert in Lawrence of Arabia, mocked the British Bourgeoisie in The Ruling Class and proved that he was still alive in 2006’s Venus, Peter O’Toole is not slowing down. He is in the process of closing negotiations to star in The Christmas Cottage. The Lionsgate film will be a drama based on a Thomas Kinkade painting, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
You read correctly, a movie based on a painting. Apparently, the film will be semi-biographical as it follows Kinkade becoming a painter. O’Toole will portray Glen Wessler, a painter based on one of Kinkade’s mentors.
O’Toole has now been nominated for eight Academy Awards after the one he got for last year’s Venus. Here’s hoping that his acting will be able to breathe some life into this painting-based project. The film will be produced by the Firm and Kinkade's Birch label. Expect a December release for the film to capitalize on its Christmas-related title.
