After he popped up in both He's Just Not That Into You and The Ugly Truth as the guy who you hope you never wind up on a date with, it was evident that Entourage star Kevin Connolly was in desperate need of a new agent. For his next role things are looking up slightly-- he's been added to the cast of Disney's Secretariat, which at least is not an embarrassing romantic comedy-- but there's a catch: Fred Thompson is his co-star.
Yes, Fred Thompson, the guy who somehow tried to turn a brief Congressional career into a Presidential campaign, will be returning to acting in Secretariat, playing a horse breeder with the amazing name of Bull Hancock. According to THR, Connolly will play a sportwriter, and A.J. Michalka has also signed on to play the daughter of Diane Lane's character, the female owner of Secretariat who ushered the horse to Triple Crown success.
Thompson Presidential run was blessedly brief enough that I think we can all forget about it by the time this movie comes out. It seems more likely people will recognize him as the guy from Law & Order rather than the one from CNN. But it's going to be Connolly I'll really have my eye on, hoping that somehow he can play a character who isn't a complete and total schmuck.
