One Sheet Wonders
Posters exist for movies that are coming out some time soon. We have them. We keep them to ourselves, but take pictures of them to prove to you that they actually exist. Then I make fun of them. This week, comedy is hard to come by, because George Lucas has done something right. Are they or aren’t they the new posters for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith?
Generally we’re not in the business of breaking news here at One Sheet Wonders. We're content to make snarky comments about posters that someone else popped out. But this time we have a few posters that you may not have all seen. Are they retro posters for the original trilogy, or are they actually posters for Episode III? Rumor says that’s Anakin in those duels and that this is a glimpse at Lucasfilm’s planned marketing campaign for the upcoming prequel… based on the little bit of digging I’ve done, I’m inclined to believe it.
Let’s hope it is. They’re going for a great retro feel… though I don’t recall Vader having issues with red-eye before. Maybe it’s because Obi-Wan and Anakin are dueling on his helmet, resulting in one hell of a headache. He probably hasn’t slept in weeks. My favorite is number two; can’t you just see Han Solo posing with his blaster in the bottom corner? One thing’s for sure, Revenge of the Sith is big on fire. Fan poster or retro real deal, flaming Vaders abound.
This is an international poster for AvP, which overseas they’ve dubbed with the inexplicable name Alien vs Predator. Must be French. This poster shows the two stars engaged in a traditional inter-galactic mating dance. Note the way the male Predator suggestively grinds his knee into the female Alien as they groove to a fierce club mix underneath a glowing space-strobe light.
I can’t wait to hear what excuse they come up with for a fat, out of shape comedian to play any sort of professional or semi-professional baseball. BERNIE MAC IS FAT! Why do I feel like the only person on the planet who knows this? If Chris Farley were alive, I imagine someone would be rushing out to cast him in a basketball movie right now.
What would be cool is if this was somehow the continuing adventures of Boo Radley, instead of a cheap horror movie about some silly ghost. See, Boo could move into this house and… well I’m not sure what would happen but I just bet it would be good.
You know, this poster is proof that Pixar is almost too good. Normally I’m big on the poster that looks hand drawn… but now I’m spoiled. Pixar’s computer generated imagery looks SO GORGEOUS for The Incredibles that hand drawn, comic book style artwork is almost a waste of space that could be better spent showing off Pixar’s 3D genius.
