Operation Kino 74: The 50 Greatest Movies Ever, Plus Total Recall
This week on Operation Kino we're escaping the drudgery of our regular podcasting lives by implanting false memories of glorious podcasts past, as we review the new remake of Total Recall. From there we jump into a conversation about the recent announcement of the Sight & Sound Top 10, whether it means anything that Vertigo is now listed as #1 instead of Citizen Kane, and what big, prestigious lists like this mean to us at all. Before any of that, though, we've got a lightning round inspired by Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, plus tidbits, in which David remembers the recently departed Chris Marker (for more on his film Sans Soleil, check out our second quarter quell), Katey cheers on the new indie Celeste & Jesse Forever, Patches has a lot of love for the original Total Recall, and Da7e doesn't know how to feel about having three Hobbit movies. We end, as always, with your lightning round answers for dessert.
Take a listen below and find your downloading options; for more from all of us, you can follow the show (@opkino), Da7e (@da7e), David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner), Patches (@misterpatches) and Katey (@kateyrich) on Twitter.
