Oscar Posters
Well I’m not sure if this is creepy or cool. The Academy Awards have released their promotional posters for their next ceremony, as they do every year. The cool thing is that instead of weird pop art or something original, they’ve taken archival photos of an actual actor and an actual actress holding their award after winning it, cropped it, and turned them into two posters.
But the creepy thing is, that for some reason, the actor and the actress’s skin has been painted Michael Jackson white. They look as if they’ve just fallen out of an episode of Serenity or maybe this is the star of Powder? I’m pretty sure that wasn’t even nominated, let alone a winner.
What’s with the white? Ok, I’m assuming these were black and white photos, and that they’ve left the photo black and white but colorized the Oscar. But having the Oscar in color just sort of makes everything else look well… disturbed. The good news for them is, that they actually look better the further away you get from them. Up close though… odd as hell. They should have left the Oscar statue in black and white as well, because since the dress is white and the tux is black, well it’s kind of hard to tell that it isn’t just their skin that’s been freakishly painted white.
Take a look at the two posters below. If you really like them, you can order them through Oscar.com, whom I don’t like enough to spam links for.
