Paul Giamatti, action star? He's already got a role in the upcoming spy thriller Duplicity, and was featured in last year's self-explanatory Shoot 'Em Up, and now he's going to be running from gangsters in Jamaica, of all places, in Babylon. Variety is reporting that he and Anthony Mackie (playing Tupac Shakur in the upcoming Notorious) will star in the indie project, directed by Andres Baiz.

Mackie will play a Rasta from rural Jamaica who, through some plot contrivance, winds up in the company of British official (Giamatti) and a 12-year-old boy. All three of them wind up on the run from gangsters in the ghettoes of Kingston. It'll be nice to spend some time with Giamatti, who has been laying low in some pretty bad movies since that one-two punch of American Splendor and Sideways. OK, there was John Adams on TV, but the movies miss you, Paul! Don't pay any attention to those gangsters on your tail-- we're happy to have you back no matter what.
