Paul Rudd and Danny McBride Will Be Attending Seth Rogen's Sausage Party
There's a Sausage Party a-brewin' in Hollywood, and Seth Rogen is inviting some of his closest friends, as well as some new collaborators, to join in on the festivities. The first couple rounds of casting have announced old familiars like James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Michael Cera, as well as newcomers Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek. The latest additions to the guest list may be the clinchers though, as Paul Rudd , Danny McBride, and Workaholics' Anders Holm have all decided to RSVP.
The Wrap spread the good word that the trio were the latest to join in on the Sony Animated Pictures production, which tells the story of a sausage, his wacky friends, and their journey back to their respective aisles in time for the annual Fourth of July sale. Before you think of taking your kids to see this, keep in mind that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the minds behind the extremely raunchy This Is The End, are planning to keep that level of discourse going. Which means you're going to see a lot of gags like this old chestnut from the Jonah Hill archives, except probably with a huge helping of computer generated horseradish and mayonnaise.
If you're revved up for Sausage Party just with the limited details we do have on hand, it is my sad duty to tell you that you're all going to have to wait a little longer than you'd expect. According to Box Office Mojo, the party won't start until June 6th, 2016, which means that those of you who were planning a double feature for next summer with this film and Ted 2 will be disappointed. In fact, I would say don't expect your first look at this movie to even come until next year. More than likely, Sony will want to promote from within, so to speak, which means Sasha Baron Cohen's Grimsby is a prime candidate with its July 31, 2015 release date.
One has to assume the extended time frame is in order to perfect the rendering on the sausages, change the title to Sausage Fest, and invite Adam Sandler and the rest of the Grown Ups cast to complete the crass comedy singularity. May the gods of brand synergy help us if a 3D release is in the works. Knowing how Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's minds work, we're going to see that statement brought to life in two different ways.
Sony Pictures Animation's Sausage Party will be held on June 3, 2016.
