Everybody has that one friend. You know the one we're talking about. That friend that outshines you with their physical greatness that you can't help but wonder how they even exist. Pee-wee Herman is no exception to this rule, and his new Netflix movie has given him quite possibly one of the most handsome "that friends" the market has to offer. He might not be Superman, but he's about to fight for truth, justice, and a hard day's pay in Magic Mike XXL. That's right, Pee-wee Herman is now movie best friends with Joe Maganiello in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday!
Maganiello himself spilled the beans to Collider in a recent interview, and while we really don't know too much about what's going to happen in the movie, we do know that Pee-wee will have a strong, muscly shoulder to cry on when things are low. What Joe Maganiello could say about the film was that it's a very knowing film that nudges and winks to both Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, as well as updates the character and his madness for a new age. (Apologies to those of you hoping for some Big Top Pee Wee action, but if there's a sequel, your day may come just yet.)
Of course, this sort of casting is the type of thing folks would think is being done purely for show, and Maganiello assures the public that his role isn't just a stunt casted cameo; he's in whole hog from beginning to end. Thinking about Joe Maganiello and his career, it's not really that odd to learn he's been cast in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. Considering he's done two tours of booty with the Magic Mike franchise, it's not a stretch to imagine a role that would take the goofy, not so serious nature of an actor of his stature, and dial down the sexy while amping up the nutty.
If anything, Joe Maganiello could be the next Cowboy Curtis to Pee-wee’s antics. He's got the strength, he could play the "aw-shucks" nature of the character to a tee, and he'll stick with Pee-wee through thick and thin. Which is good, considering that Sabotage and Magic Mike looked to type cast Maganiello as the strong, sexy man of action. After he's done with Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, there could be a chance that comedy and even family films could come calling for the True Blood alum.
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday is currently filming, with no release date in sight. When it's released though, it'll be through a Netflix exclusive platform. Though you can see obviously see Joe Maganiello in Magic Mike XXL in early release this evening.
