It’s amazing what a little celebrity nudity can do for you. A few days ago the folks behind Penelope Cruz’s movie Elegy released a bunch of clips from the film online. The clips were extended sequences in which Penelope Cruz is very very topless. Even though anyone who has ever seen Penelope Cruz in anything has by now, already seen her topless, the clips instantly generated all kinds of internet buzz. Now, surprise surprise, an American company has decided to pick Elegy up for distribution.
The news comes from HR, where they say it’s Samuel Goldwyn Films, Sony Pictures, and Red Envelope Entertainment who have jointly acquired Penelope Cruz’s breasts for domestic releasing. The movie is based on a short novel by Philip Roth called “The Dying Animal”, and it’s about a student (Cruz) seducing her professor (Kingsley).
Also co-starring in the movie with Penelope’s nipples are Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson, Peter Sarsgaard, and Deborah Harry. The movie should be released here in America some time this August. Rather than spending ten dollars on a ticket, I’ll probably just Netflix Vanilla Sky instead.
