As 2015 gives way to 2016, several guilds and various critics’ groups are falling over themselves to reward the best films of the previous year at high-caliber events. Well, last night, the people spoke, and they decided to throw their collective weight behind the seventh chapter of a high-octane franchise, naming Justin Lin’s Furious 7 as their Favorite Movie of 2015.
Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s hugely successful sequel faced off against fellow blockbuster tentpoles Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out, Jurassic World and the ladies of Pitch Perfect 2 and the People’s Choice Awards. The film also took home the award for Favorite Action Movie. The rest of the trophies were spread out among fan-favorite celebrities like Channing Tatum (Magic Mike XXL) and Sandra Bullock – though I wonder how many People’s Choice voters bothered to see Our Brand is Crisis last year?
