The Pink Panther Rides Again
Steve Martin’s remake of The Pink Panther is getting a sequel. Steve is ready to do more, and is already on board to reprise his role and Inspector Clouseau.
Why not? Maybe it was an unnecessary remake, but it had a few laughs and it made a little bit of money. It's no worse than any of the other sequels we're being deluged with.
The Hollywood Reporter says the next one will bring in a pair of rookie writers named Scott Neustadter and Michael M. Weber for script duties. Maybe they'll come up with something fresh. No word on whether or not Shawn Levy will be back directing, but right now he’s busy finishing up Night at the Museum and then is scheduled to start work on an untitled bachelorhood comedy from writer Nick Kurzon... so maybe not. Also no mention of Beyonce in the sequel, so if we all cross our fingers really hard maybe we’ll get lucky and she’ll stay the hell out.
The plot is being kept under wraps, but since they don’t even have a script written yet that’s not hard to do. It’s probably safe to bet that Clouseau will do some bumbling and fumbling, only to miraculously solve the case at the last minute in spite of his complete ineptitude.
