Poltergeist Remake Talk Returns
About a year ago there were reports about a possible remake of the classic Poltergeist. The debate behind the existence of plans for such a remake formed a line between several sites and lead to a lot of debate. A year later… the line is being formed again.
Bloody-Disgusting, who was the site to report about the Poltergeist remake plans in the first place, is reporting that they can now confirm that the remake rights are being picked up by Mandate Pictures - the same studio they’ve been saying for a while would be behind the remake. Apparently the plans are back on to remake the classic Tobe Hooper/Steven Spielberg film.
Of course, being “on” is relative since there isn’t a script yet and there’s a writer’s strike going on, which means even though the remake is starting to move forward, there’s only so far it can go until the strike is resolved. In the meantime, all we can do is speculate how the story of a family who finds their house haunted by vengeful spirits will be altered, and who could play the key roles. Hey, maybe we’ll get lucky and even get Craig T. Nelson involved again!
