New Potter Scribe
Steven Kloves is not to blame for the mediocrity of the first two Potter movies, he only wrote them. It was Christopher Columbus who directed them into bland city. Kloves also wrote last year’s fantastic third film as well as the fourth one already on the way. However, he will not be cobbling together the screenplay for the fifth, Order of the Phoenix. Apparently, he hates Firebirds. I’ve always been more of a Trans-Am man myself!
Instead, Michael Goldenberg has been hired to work with Potter producer on a screenplay for Harry Potter 5. Goldenberg is the guy who wrote Contact as well as last year’s adaptation of Peter Pan… so presumably he’s the idiot responsible for making Captain Hook fly and thus undermining everything we’ve ever known about pixy dust and thinking legitimately happy thoughts. Evidently Jason Isaacs’ flying antics haven’t hurt him since he just finished working with Spike Jones on the script for his upcoming adaptation of the children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are”.
The fifth Harry Potter film hits theaters sometime after they release the fourth film and get around to finding a director for the fifth. In other words you’ve got a bit of a wait.
