Prince Of Persia Details
It was only a few days ago that Variety reported that Disney has hired Jeffrey Nachmanoff to write a script for a movie adaptation of the videogame Prince of Persia. It’s been in development by Jerry Bruckheimer since 2004, and hasn’t exactly been moving quick to screen.
Now, well known screenwriter John August, who is apparently serving as an executive producer on the Prince of Persia project, has answered a few questions about the upcoming film on his blog. If you’re a Prince of Persia fan, this is probably a pretty big deal.
August confirms first off, that he doesn’t know when the movie is coming out, they don’t have a director, and no they haven’t cast anyone. Of course they don’t have a script yet, so that makes sense. But, he does confirm they are thinking about casting and that, “it would be great to find a (relatively) unknown Persian actor to play the prince.” Unfortunately, he also says he has no say in who they hire.
There have been several games in the Prince of Persia series, so what most people want to know is which game the movie will be based on. John says that as you might expect, “yes, the movie is based on “The Sands of Time,” the first game in the series, which is lighter and more swashbuckling than the later games.”
So there you go. That’s all the Prince of Persia info there is. It’s not exactly Halo, but at least this is a videgame to movie adaptation based on a property with a fairly rich story behind it, instead of another shallow horror/thriller that’s all atmosphere and empty of plot.
