Producers Pick Flicks
It’s awards season, which means every single group associated with movies is about to announce their award nominees, from the Craft Services Table, to the Teamsters. Yesterday came the announcement of the Producer’s Guild of America’s (PGA) nominees for their Best Picture award. The movies nominated make up a wide variety of styles and stories.

The selection of movies is notable because of both what it includes, and what it doesn’t. Critic favorites such as Ray , Hotel Rwanda, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are absent, while the nominees include the second animated movie to be nominated by the PGA ever (the first was Shrek).
While you probably won’t see us report the Craft Services nominees, the PGA awards are notable for their Oscar Predictions. Eleven of the Fifteen PGA winners in the past went on to win the Oscar Best Picture award as well.
What will be interesting to watch is The Incredibles. It’s highly unlikely the Oscars will give it a chance in a Best Picture role, relegating it solely to Best Animated Film status. That leaves a wild card position open for one of the films not nominated here to edge their way in.
The PGA winner will be announced January 22nd.
