No Punisher For Paddy
Remember the other day how we told you Paddy Considine was considering a role in the Punisher sequel? Well, it turns out he’s not… not anymore at least.
Considine announced last week that he was considering the role of Jigsaw, a mobster assassin that would go up against the Punisher for the sequel to the mediocre 2004 movie. Like the previous news, Considine provides details via a fan site’s message board.
It turns out, Considine wasn’t the first pick to play Jigsaw. Apparently the first pick ducked out so they offered it to Paddy. Then the first pick (still unknown who exactly that is) decided to play the hitman after all, leaving Considine out in the cold.
What’s great about the news coming from the actor himself is that he pulls no punches. He admits he was wary about doing the project at all, ”Because the other films looked shite”, and that ”The only blessing was that I didn't waste an hour of my life reading the script”. That’s such a refreshing change from the usual Hollywood BS. When I first heard he wasn’t doing the picture I imagined he read the script, hated it, and we’d get a total politically-correct excuse as to why he wasn’t doing the movie. Nope. Thank you Paddy!
So, Punisher: War Journal loses out on a good actor, and for who? No telling, but whoever it is doesn’t seem to be promoting it on their fan site’s discussion board like Considine… assuming it’s someone big enough to even have a fan site.
