I’m not a huge fan of sci-fi movies. I’m also not a huge fan of Bruce Willis. I have that in common with Cinema Blend’s former news writer and current news editor, Mack Rawden. As such, it’s ironic that the two of us seem to be the writers bringing you information about the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates. Mack told you that Willis would be the lead in Surrogates back in November 2007. Now I’m going to tell you about one of his co-stars.
Radha Mitchell is joining the cast of the Touchstone Pictures’ sci-fi thriller according to a scoop over at Coming Soon. Mitchell is probably best known to horror fans from Silent Hill, although I remember her from one of Woody Allen’s recent bombs, Melinda and Melinda. Mitchell’s role is not clear and other casting has not been announced.
The movie is based on a comic book about a future world where people don’t leave home and interact through better-looking surrogate robots. Willis is a cop who learns that other surrogates are being murdered (can you murder a robot?) He has to leave home for the first time in years and try to solve a criminal conspiracy. Terminator 3 director Jonathan Mostow is directing and a Thanksgiving 2009 release is planned. I’ll be at the theater! Seeing something else.
