Rashida Jones and Chris Messina have each starred this year in movies that would be called romantic comedies, except the romance was with someone other than their given partner. In I Love You Man Jones played the loving fiancee to Paul Rudd's character, who of course was deep in bromance with Jason Segel. And in Julie & Julia Chris Messina stood alongside Amy Adams as she discovered her love of French cooking and Julia Child.

Now Jones and Messina will find love with each other in Monogamy, an indie romantic comedy described in THR as "a cautionary tale about sex, photography, and fear of marriage." Dana Adam Shapiro, who was a co-director of the documentary Murderball, co-wrote this script with Evan Wiener, and will make his narrative directing debut.

Jones and Messina are about as adorable as actors can be, and it'll be interesting to see if this is the kind of dark indie take on romance that asks them to really stretch, or the lighter kind that just allows us to enjoy their existence. I'll be fine with either, really.
