The Raven Exclusive Blu-ray Bonus Clip Discusses The Real Edgar Allan Poe
James McTeigue’s The Raven is a tale of mystery and intrigue, following murders that are occurring based on the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe’s tales. The film is preparing for its big Blu-ray release on October 9. To get fans excited about the upcoming release, Twentieth Century Fox has dropped us an exclusive sneak peek at one of the bonus features on the Blu-ray disc. A historically relevant movie always seems a little bit better with some historical context, and “The Madness, Misery, and Mystery of Edgar Allan Poe” does not disappoint.
“The Madness, Misery, and Mystery of Edgar Allan Poe” is part of a longer featurette that discusses Poe’s work as a magazine writer and how Poe made the conscious choice to write works that would be popular with a mass audience. Poe’s a pretty interesting dude, and hearing about his broad appeal, as well as his famous works like “The Raven” poem, just makes me want to watch Cusack play Edgar Allan Poe, again.
The Raven set will actually be coming with a slew of bonus features, and “The Madness, Misery, and Mystery of Edgar Allan Poe” is just the tip of the iceberg. The set will also feature Cusack and McTeigue pretty prominently and will come with a bunch of deleted and extended scenes, among other extras. If you liked the dark tone of the murder mystery and all of the references to Poe’s works, you may want to purchase the film regardless, but all of the extras should prove a nice bonus, as well.
