Ray Liotta Gets Assaulted In First Clip From Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly
It was around this time last year that the first clip from Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive came online. The movie was set to make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and advertised itself by featuring a gripping, three minute scene from the beginning of the film. Drive ended up being my favorite movie that was released in 2011. Now we have the first clip from Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly and immediately I begin wondering if this has potential to be my top pick for 2012.
The film comes from the Cannes Film Festival website (via The Playlist). Check it out!
Man, do I love the way that this was shot. There are many directors who would have just cut and put the camera inside the trailer to watch the struggle, but by keeping the audience outside we are shocked every time a window breaks or a door comes crashing open. I'm also now very curious to know what exactly Ray Liotta's character did to Sam Shepard's. My bet is that it wasn't something good.
Formerly known as Cogan's Trade, Killing Them Softly stars Brad Pitt as a mob enforcer who is brought in to investigate a heist at a mob-run poker game. The film has an all-star cast that also includes Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, Garret Dillahunt and Vincent Curatola and will be out in theaters on September 21st.
