Return Of The Bride
In 2003, Quentin Tarantino shared his martial arts masterpiece with the world, titled Kill Bill Volume 1. There was more kung-fu fighting than you could shake a Hatori Hanzo sword at. Then in 2004, he followed up with Kill Bill Volume 2, the more sentimental second installment.
The movies made a ton of money and recruited obsessive fans, including myself. When explaining to the New York Times the reason for dividing the films into two, he said, "There were no obstacles involved in splitting up 'Kill Bill' at all because I've always designed the movie, thought about the film, as malleable in any number of versions."
Apparently. Now in 2005, he is ready to show the films in yet another version: one big whopping whole. According to Digital Spy, Tarantino is planning to merge the 2 films together. He explains, "I want to cut the whole movie together like one big epic with an intermission in the middle like a 60s film. It'll be coming out in theatres."
Why the drastic delay? "I've been holding off because I've been working on it for so long that I just wanted a year off from Kill Bill and then I'll do the big supplementary DVD package", he told the press.
He will start working on it early next year and get the final product in theaters late next year. The good news is that you can experience it theatrically all over again in a new way. The bad news is that it kind of blows the possibility of a third installment away for the time being. Can't win 'em all.
