The most important movie experience of the year (with all due respect to The Incredibles), isn’t happening in theaters, it’s arriving on DVD. With gushy lines like that, you’d think New Line would get off their asses and start paying me to wax poetic about the upcoming Extended Edition of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
The DVD won’t be released until December 15, but the set’s well deserved advertising blitz is already starting. Packed with over twenty hours of extensive special features, the set includes a version of the film not seen in theaters, since it has over fifty minutes of extra footage added to it.
The official Lord of the Rings website has just released a trailer for the ROTK: EE and it’s a beauty. It gives you just a peek at what the extra fifty minutes might be, but if you want to watch the EE with virgin eyes, then you might want to skip the trailer.
