Because they have no place else to write, some WGA members are updating their websites with quasi-news. One such member, David Twohy, writer/director of both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, spent some time giving everyone an update on both the strike and his possible upcoming projects. Neither bit of information was particularly earth shattering, but if you are a Chronicles of Riddick fan, you may want to pay attention.
Under the news section of DavidTwohy.com, David says that he is being begged, literally, to do another Riddick sequel. You guys just won’t leave David alone, per David. He notes, “Yes. I get your emails demanding another movie; yes, I keep bumping into you guys in airports and at conventions and I take your pleas to heart.” For the sake of Krishna, leave the poor man alone! He goes on to say that there are no firm plans for a sequel but due to the great DVD sales, there are “independent” people interested. Universal was probably looking more at the awful box office results and is not so interested. Either way, if someone comes a knockin’, David will answer and give the people what they want.
The other part of the posting is David’s analysis of the strike. He thinks the writers are in the right and the producers are greedy lying bastards. No big surprise there. He says solidarity is high. No big surprise there. Hopefully the strike will end soon, the money men will come calling, and David and Vin Diesel can send Riddick on another of his amazing adventures.
