Rise Of The Guardians Will Release Its Magic On Blu-ray In March
DreamWorks' newest animated flick, Rise of the Guardians came out during the holiday season, which was fitting since it feature holiday figures pretty prominently. It’s also fitting, then, that the film is hitting 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 12, just a couple of week’s before Easter hits. Serious kudos to the marketing people that tied together that feat.
DreamWorks has put out some pretty impressive animation over the past several years, and Rise of the Guardians is no exception. However, despite being based on a popular, magical children’s series by William Joyce, Rise of the Guardians had a pretty tough sell marketing a movie steeped in holiday origin stories and it ended up showing at the box office. The flick only made $100 million domestically, which isn’t horrible, but isn’t good for a movie that cost $145 million to produce. Luckily, the flick was somewhat saved overseas, bringing in nearly $300 million worldwide.
If you were one of the people who did catch the flick and do want to purchase the film, you’ll have plenty of different options to choose from. First, the flick will hit digitial download a little earlier than the hard copy release and will be available to buyers beginning on February 26. However, if you decide to go digital, you won’t get two bonus hopping toy eggs that will come with the hard copies of the film while supplies last. The egg toys just serves as further evidence to prove the idea that Rise of the Guardians will be an Easter release. Additionally, the film will be available in a 3D combo pack that also features a Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy, a Blu-ray combo pack that will come with a DVD and digital copy, and a standalone DVD.
