The Rock Out Of The Game Plan
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been taken out of The Game Plan by a leg injury. The film is a family football comedy under production for Disney, and Dwayne ruptured and Achilles tendon during a football practice on Monday meant to prepare him for filming. Instead of preparing him, it’s knocked him right off his feet.
Game Plan has been forced to go on hiatus while The Rock undergoes surgery. He’ll be cut op on Friday, and the subsequent rehab and recovery may be substantial. No one seems certain exactly what this means for the movie, but The Hollywood Reporter says Disney is willing to wait for him even though the film was supposed to start shooting June 26.
This may not be a bad thing for The Rock. After all, does a family football comedy really do much for his career anyway? Wasn’t he supposed to be the next big action star, not the next Steve Guttenberg? The Game Plan sounds like the perfect vehicle for someone on the back end of their career. In a previous incarnation the movie was titled “Daddy’s Girl” and it follows the journey of a professional football player who learns he has a daughter and becomes a father.
If The Game Plan doesn’t work out, maybe next The Rock can fire up another sequel to Three Men and a Baby.
