Rose McGowan Set To Don The Sheriff's Hat In Napa
Rose McGowan is one of the only actresses whose career constantly remains unfettered by poor showings at the box office. Conan the Barbarian was met with mild box office receipts and even milder reviews, yet the actress has four films in various stages of production and shows no sign of slowing down.
The Charmed star has accepted the lead in Napa, according to Variety, which will put her in the role of Sheriff of her home town after three tours in Afghanistan. Based on a Hans Ostrom novel Three to Get Ready, originally published in 1990, the book is described as a mystery so expect McGowan to quickly get caught up in a big case at her new job.
Michael Kerr will be making his first attempt behind the camera for Napa, which will be produced under his own company alongside Greek producer Nellie Nugiel.
What we don’t know right off the bat is whether or not the story is going to take place in present day, or if it will take place closer to the time the book was published. This may not play a major role in the film, but the Afghanistan of 1990 and the Afghanistan of 2011 are two very different places and three tours in 2011 Afghanistan could make for some interesting flashback sequences. More on Napa as it comes to us.
