Safety Not Guaranteed Promises To Hit Blu-ray In October
Safety Not Guaranteed was a festival darling that won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, the film’s theatrical release didn’t reach all into all of the corners and cornfields in the continental United States. Some very fine movie aficionados managed to miss the science fiction-oriented comedy, a problem which can be rectified when Safety Not Guaranteed hits Blu-ray and DVD on October 30.
Those who did manage to catch the comedy have had overwhelmingly position things to say about the flick, which stars Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, and Jake Johnson as they investigate the benefits and concerns of a potential time traveling mission where personal safety is obviously not guaranteed. The film has done so well among critics, it even managed to nab a spot in Cinema Blend's “The Best Movies We’ve Seen So Far In 2012” list. If that isn’t enough to encourage you to check out the film, maybe the special features will be.
Both Blu-ray and DVD copies will feature a behind-the-scenes set called “A Movie Making Mission” which follows director Colin Trevorrow and several of the cast members as they work through various aspects of putting together the film. Additionally, a second featurette following the story behind the script will be added to the disc. It’s not a chalk-full release, but since a lot of independent films will come with no extras, it’s looking pretty good.
Safety Not Guaranteed Bonus Features
- “A Movie Making Mission” Featurette
- “The Ad Behind the Movie” Featurette
- Time Capsule-Easter Egg
