Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Are The Law In Red Band Trailer For The Heat
Writer/director Paul Feig has spent most of his career on his small screen, creating the series Freaks and Geeks and directing episodes of shows like The Office, Mad Men, Arrested Development, Weeds, Parks and Recreation and Nurse Jackie, but his career took in 2011. As the director of Bridesmaids he rode the success of that comedy to the top and we can only hope he stays there.
So what does he have for us next? The new buddy cop comedy The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. The movie's first green band trailer showed up online last month, but now it's time for some Not Safe For Work Material. Check out the new Red Band trailer, courtesy of IGN, below.
There are definitely some parts in this trailer that made me laugh - I particularly enjoyed the grenade gag at the end - but I will say I'm worried by some of the more generic aspects of the story. Hopefully the film will wind up being more of a twist on the genre and give us something more like Hot Fuzz or 21 Jump Street as an cop comedy.
Due out on April 5th, The Heat stars Bullock and McCarthy as Special Agent Sarah Ashburn and Detective Shannon Mullins, an elite FBI agent and a streetwise cop who are forced to team up in order to take down a powerful crime lord. The talented supporting cast includes Kaitlin Olson, Taran Killam, Michael Rapaport, Thomas F. Wilson, Tony Hale and Demian Bichir.
