Saw It Again This Halloween
Seems it wouldn't be Halloween without a Saw film to bore and gore us. Saw hit theaters Halloween 2004 and Saw II came out the same time last year. Now Lionsgate has announced this Halloween we can expect a third installment.
Director Darren Lynn Bousman, who also directed Saw II will return. Producers on the film have indicated that it will stick to the basics laid out in the first two movies but will incorporate "fresh, terrifying and unimaginable new twists".
While stale and unimaginative were the words that first sprang to my mind, I gotta give these guys credit. Despite generally being described as less exciting than its predecessor, Saw II brought in over $30 million more at the box office. That's America's sense of horror for you: the dumber and gorier it gets the more we're likely to go see it.
If the movies keep doing as well as they have this could turn into one nightmarish tradition. Here's hoping they finally stop at part ten, otherwise those posters are going to start looking extra disturbing.
