Saw movies have become that ex-girlfriend that comes around once a year begging for you back. You humor her with sporadic conversations for a few days then realize that you’re being dumb and it obviously doesn’t work, so you move on, only to repeat the process 12 months later.
Well, it’s almost that time of the year again, as Saw VI will be released in October, and as always, Saw VII has already been greenlit. According to Variety, most of the regular behind-the-scenes players will be back. David Hackl, who directed Saw V, is back to direct the seventh installment. Writers of the last three flicks, Mark Burg and Oren Koules, have been tapped to write the script. And I’m sure Jigsaw will be back somehow.
This got boring after the third one, and that’s only because I have an abnormally high tolerance level for bad cinema; it’s likely that many filmgoers were done after the first. The truth is, though, that these movies are going to come out forever, and money-wasting pseudo horror fans will continue to watch them. It’s all a terrible cycle.
