Scarlett Johansson Kicks Some Ass In New Avengers Clip
At the end of the second trailer for The Avengers the entire group assembles on the ground to wait for the next wave of attack from their enemies. We see Iron Man, with his special suit of armor; Thor, with his hammer of the gods; Hulk, with his incredible strength and size; Captain America, who is loaded with Super Soldier Serum as well as an unbreakable shield; and Hawkeye, who is armed with a seemingly endless number of special-tipped arrows. And then there's Black Widow, who is standing there using a simple pistol. Many have reacted to this shot by commenting that there's no way that she can stand up to the same kind of force the rest of the Avengers can. But they forget just how skilled Black Widow really is.
Marvel has debuted a new clip from the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed film, which features Black Widow in what looks to be a lot of trouble. The truth, however, is that she is actually in total control of the entire situation. Check out the clip below!
As Sean pointed out in his article a couple days ago, Joss Whedon is super talented at writing for female characters and while this scene doesn't feature Scarlett Johansson giving a big emotional speech, it does show that the writer/director is working to get her more involved by giving her her own big action sequence right out the gate. It sounds weird, but Black Widow is honestly the character I'm most fascinated about on the hero side of things in the movie.
The Avengers is due out on May 4th and stars Robert Downey Jr., Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo. To see more from the title, including posters, stills, news and trailers, head over to our Blend Film Database.
