Three more actors have joined Scorsese’s Shutter Island. Except isn’t it the movie formerly known as Shutter Island? In January we got word that the movie’s name was being changed to Ashecliffe. Apparently HR didn’t get the memo because they say Max von Sydow (who has done for eyebrows what Tom Selleck did for mustaches), Emily Mortimer (who gets hotter with age and is pictured to your right) and Jackie Earle Haley (who has never been hot) have been added to the Shutter Island cast.

Whatever it’s called, it’s Scorsese and that means good things. Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, and Patricia Clarkson are already in the film. Marty certainly has no trouble getting names to be in his movies.

The movie is an adaptation of a 2004 Dennis Lehane novel. It’s a period piece set in 1954 and has DiCaprio and Ruffallo playing a U.S. Marshalls named Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule respectively. Daniels and Aule investigates the disappearance of a criminally insane murderess. She’s hiding in a remote place in Massachusetts named Shutter Island. I guess there’s a big Wolf Camera there or something. Von Sydow will play a physician at a looney bin. Mortimer will play Rachel, an escaped patient, and Haley is another looney bin inmate.
