The Scrat Is Back!
I was one of those who actually liked the first Ice Age movie. I have to admit though, while the story was fun and the cast wasn’t totally annoying (something to be said for a film featuring the voices of Leguizamo and Romano) it was the short sequences with the Scrat, the little prehistoric squirrel, that endeared the film to me. Watching Scrat in his perpetual hunt for acorns, and the antics that came from that, made great scene breaks in the first film.
So, like the first film, that’s what the advertising has chosen to highlight for the sequel, which means with a new trailer comes a new Scrat scene. This time Scrat breaks bad as something he can fight finally gets in his way (as opposed to the acts of God that usually interfere). Oh, and at the end there are some actual shots of the main story of the movie, featuring Queen Latifah as another mammoth who is set up as a love interest for Romano’s Manny.
Who cares about that - knock off the rest of the characters and just give us Scrat shorts from now on. Whose with me? Scrat shorts in front of ever Fox movie from now on!
