Well first we brought you the first pics from Rob Zombie's Halloween remake, and now via MTV we bring you the first footage, including interviews with Zombie and many of the principle cast including Linderman himself.
The footage itself is heartening. It would seem that Tyler Mane has slimmed down a bit, and as a result Michael Myers may not look completely ridiculous. Zombie also talks about the method behind the madness of the script, saying he wanted to make Michael “sympathetic”. Whether this means he has excised the scene in which a young Michael Myers tortures some animals and then masturbates to sound recordings of the event is not addressed. On the other hand in an article attached to the footage, Zombie drops some bombshells including the fact that he’s ditching the classic Carpenter theme. It’d be like remaking Jaws without the classic duhnuh duhnuh.
Look I want this movie to succeed I really do. Halloween has the worst sequels of any horror franchise hands down, they can’t even be enjoyed ironically. I just want to see a good Halloween movie from a horror director I believe in. The footage looks good, but then Brad Dourif recently went on record saying he won't watch the movie. Unfortunately it seems like a real coin toss at the moment.
