The Sequel Jerry Seinfeld Says Everyone Wants Him To Do
Although he’s primarily known for his iconic stand-up career as well as his legendary television series, Jerry Seinfeld has done his fair share of work in the world of film as well. Perhaps it’s not quite as prolific of a resume as someone like Eddie Murphy or Steve Martin, but he has made a name for himself as an incredibly versatile entertainer. In fact, the comedian recently came out and admitted that there’s one specific film universe that his fans want to see him return to, and it's not one we would've expected.
During a recent Reddit AMA session, Jerry Seinfeld revealed that there’s an incredible demand online for him to make a sequel to 2007’s Bee Movie:
So it seems that there’s a relatively vocal fan base that wants to see Jerry Seinfeld return to the silver screen for Bee Movie 2. He states that the movie has developed a strong following on social media platforms like Tumblr, and that even his kids regularly ask him about when he will get around to making a sequel.
That being said, Jerry Seinfeld also goes on to specifically explain his trepidation towards doing a Bee Movie sequel. For one thing, he points out that animation is an incredibly difficult art form, and that if people knew how stressful the first Bee Movie was to make they might not clamor for it quite as much. He also goes on to note a sequel could potentially ruin the iconography of the original Bee Movie, which is not something he’s particularly interested in.

In all honesty, it’s somewhat hard to tell if he’s being sarcastic or not. Bee Movie hit the scene in 2007, and it didn’t exactly bring anything new to the table for the world of family-friendly animation. Jerry Seinfeld himself brought his typically funny persona to the role of Barry Bee Benson, but the film’s overall narrative of bees litigating against humans didn’t exactly meet with an immense critical response. The film received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences alike, and in many ways it has faded into obscurity.
Perhaps time has been kinder to the film that we thought. It seems that there’s still a fairly vocal cult following that wants to see a sequel to Bee Movie come to fruition at some point. It’s been almost a decade since the original Bee Movie hit theaters, and children who grew up with it have started to make their collective voices heard.
Although people constantly ask for it, it doesn’t look like Jerry Seinfeld has any interest in making a Bee Movie 2 anytime soon. Of course, we will keep you updated on this matter, and if he changes his mind at any point we will bring you that news as soon as it breaks.
