The adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has been moving along at an incredibly brisk pace, with Timur Bekmambetov set as the director and a cast that includes Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie, Jimmi Simpson, Dominic Cooper and more. The same, however, can not be said about Grahame-Smith's first novel, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. In production for more than a year now, the film once had both David O. Russell and Mike White attached to direct, but both were forced to abandon the project due to scheduling issues. Apparently, the writer has had just about enough of the runaround and now may be close to making his directorial debut.
THR is reporting that the search for a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies director continues and now Seth Grahame-Smith and his production partner David Katzenberg are being considered. As previously reported, Lars and the Real Girl director Craig Gillespie is also up for the position. Should the studio decide to pick them, Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg would direct the project as a pair. While the film would be the writer's debut, Katezenberg previously directed four episodes of the MTV series The Hard Times of RJ Berger.
Remember when Matt Reeves, Jonathan Demme and Phil Lord and Chris Miller were up for the job? Why not consider them again? The buzz around the script has been fantastic and Lionsgate obviously really wants to get the film made. Let's hope they can get someone soon.
