The Sexy Focus Trailer Lets Will Smith Be Seduced By Mrs. Wolf Of Wall Street
"There’s two kinds of people in this world. There’s hammers. And there’s nails. You decide which one you want to be." That’s the advice dished out in the sleek, sexy first trailer for Will Smith’s Focus, a thriller that teams him with the gorgeous Wolf of Wall Street siren Margot Robbie. Give the clip a spin above.
The crime-caper casts Will Smith as a veteran grifter who takes a beautiful protégé (Robbie) under his wing. Troubles surface when the two become romantically involved. But the way the clip begins – with a car crash that puts both Smith and Robbie in the clutches of a mysterious threat – it’s clear that Focus will be about several misdirections, misconceptions, and multiple rug pulls. If I had to hazard a guess.
What really surprises me about the Focus trailer is that it’s the latest project from co-directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa – whose credits prior to that included the ensemble comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love and the button-pushing love story, I Love You Phillip Morris, with Jim Carrey. The duo also has penned Bad Santa and The Bad News Bears for Billy Bob Thornton, so there might be some biting sarcasm and dark humor in Focus -- even if the initial trailer sells it more as an action-crime thrill seeker.
This also will be a return to R-rated territory for Will Smith, who has juggled sequels (Men In Black 3, Anchorman 2), family-friendly sci-fi (After Earth) and whatever Winter’s Tale was as of late. But he hasn’t been filthy and violent since 2003’s Bad Boys II, and I think we’re all ready for Big Willie Style to get his adult groove on.
Earlier this week, Warner Bros shared two images from Focus, teasing the sexual tension between Will Smith and Margot Robbie here:

Focus opens in theaters on February 27, 2015, and looks like it could be a sexy romp. Do you agree?
