Shane Carruth's Upstream Color Teases With Second, Longer Trailer
Shane Carruth’s Upstream Color remains one of the most-anticipated movies as we head into the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which begins shortly. (Keep it tuned in to Cinema Blend, as our own Katey Rich will be reporting from the frozen tundra that is Park City, Utah for all of your Sundance needs.) If you can’t make it but want to get a sense of Carruth’s follow up to Primer, a second trailer for his upcoming feature has just arrived online. We’re happy to share it with you below:
The reason we’re excited about Upstream Color is because Carruth’s debut film Primer was an incredibly intelligent sci-fi drama about brainy entrepreneurs who believe they have invented a time machine. We’re kind of willing to follow Carruth down any avenue for his second feature, though we were hoping for something a little more streamlined and slightly easier to follow that what we’ve seen from Upstream so far. This new trailer does offer far more footage than the mysterious teaser trailer we managed to see a few weeks back. But the way the clip’s edited, it’s still really hard to tell what audiences are in for when they finally see Color.
Here’s what we do know: Upstream Color, according to the official synopsis, follows “a man and woman (who) are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives.” It stars Andrew Sensenig, Brina Palencia, Amy Seimetz and Carruth, himself, and we should have a lot more on it as Sundance kicks off.
