Sin City Televised
According to the UK paper Guardian Unlimited, the Weinstein brothers are pitching a potential spin-off series based on their popular Sin City movie. The movie is, of course, based on the comic book series by Frank Miller of the same name.
Along with this project (but receiving far less publicity) is a potential television series based on Rounders, a highly more likely endeavor in my opinion, given the subject matter and modern culture’s booming poker obsession.
A Sin City series on the other hand seems decidedly unlikely to me. First of all, Frank Miller would have to agree to such a thing, and the man is more then a little protective of his creations. Secondly, the series would have to be sold to a cable network/pay channel (like HBO) in order to have any chance at carrying the same weight as the movie. Thirdly, I just don’t think it would translate as well. I can see each of Miller’s storylines working as part of a movie, creating anthologies, but Miller would most likely have to come up with new storylines to support a television series. Is he willing to take the franchise that far?
