With Boyz n the Hood, John Singleton started his directing career with a thunderous boom. But try as he might, he has yet to match the glory of that film with his follow-ups (Yes, that includes 2 Fast 2 Furious).
It seems a change of pace is in order. According to Hollywood Reporter, Singleton has signed on to adapt and direct the Tom Clancy spy thriller Without Remorse for Paramount Pictures. The studio is hoping to turn to the story into a possible franchise.
Without Remorse revolves around former Navy Seal and CIA Operative John Kelly (code name: Mr. Clark) who was first played by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger. Singleton is a fan of that film and Patriot Games, and he hopes his movie will be on par with those.
Singleton is looking to cast a young and athletic actor who can evolve with the picture. More on this hopefully good but potentially disasterous film as it unfolds.
