Skyscraper To Cause Ruin In Chicago
Looks like Universal thinks America is ready for a disaster flick involving a giant building falling down onto a major city. Skyscraper is a suspense flick that Variety compares to ,The Towering Inferno. Hopefully it will be better than the 1996 Anna Nicole Smith vehicle of the same name.
Variety reports that Universal bought the rights to the script before writer Mike Sobel even finished it. Neal Moritz will produce the film, which follows a business tycoon who sets out to build a one mile high ‘scraper in Chicago. Things go awry when the structure becomes tenuous. The unannounced cast must then save the city from annihilation. Is it me or does this sound kitschy but cool?
This is Sobel’s second script. His first was Animals, which he recently sold to Columbia and will also be produced by Moritz.
